TAMPA, Fla. – LA Galaxy II forward Augustine Williams has been voted the USL Championship’s Player of the Month for September / October after recording seven goals in eight games during the final stretch of the season to complete a career-best regular season and lead the Galaxy II to a second consecutive trip to the USL Championship Playoffs.
In his second season with Los Dos, Williams provided the attacking impetus for the side as it claimed crucial victories over the final five weeks of the regular season. He scored a pair of game-winning goals during his run to lift the Galaxy II to key victories against Las Vegas Lights FC and Orange County SC, with the latter coming in the win that sent Los Dos to the postseason on September 30 in the club’s penultimate game of the regular season.
The 23-year-old finished the campaign with 13 goals, good for second in the league. His total also tied for second in the Galaxy II’s history for goals in a single season, trailing only Jack McBean’s standout 2016 season that saw the former Los Dos forward earn All-League First Team honors.
Williams received 45 percent of a weighted poll that included the USL Championship Technical Committee, a national panel of independent media representing every USL market and an online fan vote held at USLChampionship.com. Memphis 901 FC’s Cal Jennings finished second on 29 percent after recording eight goals in seven games to conclude his first professional season, while Reno 1868 FC’s Foster Langsdorf finished third on 14 percent after scoring six goals in seven games for his club.
