Philips joins Austin Bold FC after last playing for Real Salt Lake of MLS, appearing in 65 matches over three seasons (one season with USL club Real Monarchs on loan). The Jamaican national scored 12 goals in 72 matches for the Reggae Boyz. Phillips was a member of the 2008 Caribbean Cup winning Jamaican team. 
After beginning his professional career with Waterhouse of the Jamaican National Premier League, winning a championship with the club in 2006, Phillips moved to Stoke City of the EFL Championship. He helped the English club gain promotion to the Premier League for the 2008-09 season. Philips moved to Aalesunds FK of the Norwegian First Division in 2009 playing 120 matches and winning two Norwegian Football Cups over six seasons.
